Baby Sign Language |

A
baby
sign language is a language which uses physical
communication as an alternative of sound to convey meaning
- at the same time combining hand shapes, orientation and
movement of the hands, arms or body, and facial expressions
to express fluidly a speaker's thoughts.
Baby
sign language is quickly becoming very popular
with many of today's new parents. This in the early hours
method of communication has so much possible, both positive
and negative, that I feel compelled to share some of what
I've learned about hand signs for babies.
Non-verbal
communication is one of the very significant
to a child's early development. It gives them practice in
sharing their needs, and lets them bring to bear some degree
of control over their own surroundings. Simply put, non-verbal
communication provides an alternative to the usual frustration
and crying.
